Sunflower meal is the by-product of the extraction of oil from sunflower seeds. In terms of production, it is the 4th most important oil meal. Sunflower meals can be made from whole or decorticated seeds, and can be mechanically and/or solvent-extracted. The quality of sunflower meal depends on the plant characteristics and on the processing.
Sunflower meal is an excellent livestock feed. Some of the sunflower crushing plants remove a portion of the hull prior to the oil extraction process. This process called ‘dehulling’ or ‘decortication’. The processing plants use both a mechanical and solvent extraction process. CMS INDUSTRIES provides customized packing in various sizes.
